Faith Promise

I. WHAT IT IS NOT:

› It is not a pledge  (Eccl. 5:4-5)
› It is not something that someone will come to you to collect   (II Cor. 8:12)
› It is not something you sit down and figure out how much you can give   (Ecc. 11:5)
› It is not taken away from what you are already giving to the church. (tithes and offerings)

II. WHAT IT IS:

› It is between God and you (II Cor. 8:12)
› It is waiting upon God to tell you how much He wants you to give for reaching the world for Christ
    (Phil. 2:13)
› You must trust Him to supply it (I Cor. 9:7-8)
› You and the missionary become partners in faith. You trust the Lord by faith to meet the promise
    for the missionary  (Rom. 1:17)

III. WHAT IT WILL DO:
› It will help the church to know what it can do this year to reach the world for Christ
      (I Sam. 21:8)
›It will encourage a united effort  (Phil. 3:15-16)
› It is good for the Christians as it does away with merely asking him to give what he has. This
does not always involve faith. The plan challenges him to trust God to permit him to do something
for the world evangelization each week. A little child can participate in the plan, yet, it tests the
faith of a mature Christian  (Heb. 11:6)
› It fosters solid stewardship   (I Cor. 4:1-2)
› It gives the local church a real incentive to be co-laborers with Christ  (II Cor. 5:14-15)
› First things become first  (II Cor. 5:14-20; Matt. 28:20)
  › It encourages the missionary   ( I Thes. 3:5-7; Phil. 4:15-19)

IV. HOW SHOULD IT WORK?

› If at all possible the money should be given each week   (I Cor. 16:2)

V. THE FAITH PROMISE IS IN ACCORD WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

› Every man according as he purposes in his heart so let him give  (II Cor. 9:7)
  › Purpose– then give
› Giving is a spiritual exercise
› Consecration is its only valid basis. ( II Cor. 8:4-5) “First gave their ownselves to the Lord and
unto us by the will of God.”

VI. WHAT IS THE FAITH PROMISE AIM?

›  First, it is not to glorify individuals or organizations, but Christ
›  Its sole purpose is to support adequately the work of world evangelization which was, and is
commanded by our coming Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ( Mark 16: 15)
›  And to bring us into a more closely dependent and blessed fellowship with Him ( Phil. 3:10-14)
